Leny Yoro has taken the football world by surprise with his move to the Premier League, as Manchester United officially announces his transfer.
Initially linked with Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid, it is the English club that has secured his services.
Manchester United paid a fixed fee of €50 million, with an additional €12 million in bonuses, to acquire the 18-year-old from LOSC Lille.
Yoro’s signing is part of the ambitious transfer strategy of Manchester United’s new owners, who recently added Joshua Zirkzee from Bologna for €42.5 million.
This unexpected transfer concludes a saga that captivated football observers.
Manchester United expressed their delight in securing Yoro, pending registration, with the defender signing a contract until June 2029, including an option for an extra year.
At 18, Yoro has already played 60 matches for Lille’s first team and was named in the Ligue 1 Team of the Season last year after helping his club finish fourth.
In his first comments, Yoro expressed his excitement: « Signing for a club of Manchester United’s stature and ambition so early in my career is an incredible honor. I am aware of Manchester United’s history with young players and believe it is the perfect place to reach my potential and achieve my ambitions alongside my new teammates. I can’t wait to get started, » said the French international.
