Manchester United set to secure Manuel Ugarte from PSG in Major transfer

Manchester United are closing in on the signing of Uruguay midfielder Manuel Ugarte from Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) in a deal valued at €50 million (£42.29 million). The agreement also includes a potential €10 million (£8.46 million) in add-ons based on performance.

Ugarte, 23, could be in Manchester for a medical examination later today. This move coincides with Scott McTominay’s expected transfer to Napoli for €30 million (£25.37 million), which is a prerequisite for finalizing Ugarte’s transfer. McTominay is set to travel to Italy for his medical on Tuesday.

Ugarte’s transfer comes just a year after he joined PSG from Sporting Lisbon for a reported €60 million.

In his single season with PSG, Ugarte featured in 37 matches, helping the club secure their 12th Ligue 1 title.

PSG has negotiated a 10% sell-on clause as part of the deal.

The completion of Ugarte’s transfer will mark Manchester United’s fifth major signing of the summer, pushing their total expenditure to over £190 million.

This is part of a broader spending spree, with the club having invested nearly £600 million in new players since Erik ten Hag took charge in 2022.
