Brigadier General Abdourahamane Tiani, President of the National Council for the Safeguard of the Homeland (CNSP), hosted the Prime Ministers of the Confederation of the Alliance of Sahel States (AES) on Monday, December 30, 2024, in Niamey.
The meeting coincided with the final of the 45th edition of the Sabre National KOKOWA, a prestigious traditional wrestling competition held in Dosso, 140 km from the Nigerien capital.
Attendees included Burkina Faso’s Prime Minister Rimtalba Jean Emmanuel Ouedraogo, Mali’s Prime Minister General Abdoulaye Maiga, and Niger’s Prime Minister Ali Mahaman Lamine Zeine, accompanied by high-ranking ministerial delegations.
Their participation in the December 29 sporting event underscored the cultural and regional solidarity that defines the AES.
During the audience, President Tiani outlined strategic priorities to strengthen the shared vision of the AES leaders, focused on sovereignty, development, and improving the well-being of their populations.
The Prime Ministers expressed their gratitude for the invitation and acknowledged the significance of the directives provided.
Burkina Faso’s Prime Minister praised the event’s unifying spirit: “This experience has enriched our collaboration and reflects the vibrancy and solidarity of our peoples. The strategic guidance shared by President Tiani is essential for advancing our collective goals.”
The discussions also explored strategies to implement harmonized public policies across the confederation.
With several Nigerien ministers in attendance, the meeting highlighted the AES’s commitment to fostering unity, promoting cultural heritage, and addressing shared challenges with resilience and cooperation.
