Burkina Faso cracks down on hate speech and Divisive Messages online

In recent weeks, hateful and divisive messages have been circulating on social media and digital platforms, inciting violence, stigmatization, and division among communities. These harmful discourses undermine social cohesion and weaken the collective fight against terrorism, posing a serious threat to Burkina Faso’s stability.

In response, the Minister of Security has issued a stern warning against any form of hate speech or incitement to violence. Those spreading such destructive messages will face zero tolerance, as their actions fuel insecurity and destabilize society.

Individuals involved in these practices will be subject to strict legal action and prosecution. The Ministry of Security is calling on every citizen to act responsibly, reject divisive rhetoric, and promote peace and national unity.

Citizens are urged to remain vigilant against manipulation and report any suspicious content to the authorities immediately.

Reports can be made through the « Alerte BCLCC » platform at alerte.bclcc.gov.bf or by calling the hotlines 10 10, 16, 17, or 199.

Burkina Faso stands as one and indivisible. Its people must remain united to build a strong and resilient nation, free from the dangers of division and hate.
