Burkina-Faso: U.S. General Micheal Langley caught in the act of manipulation

While the Burkinabe government, under the leadership of Captain Ibrahim Traoré, is doing everything in its power to eradicate terrorism, imperialist forces are working tirelessly to tarnish the country’s image. This is the case with General Michael Langley, commander of U.S. AFRICOM, who made statements accusing the authorities of enriching themselves at the people’s expense through cooperation with China.

The Burkinabe government has denounced these false and senseless remarks, firmly rebutting General Langley, whom they accuse of trying to manipulate public opinion in Burkina Faso. This tactic is nothing new—it’s one of the typical strategies used by imperialist powers when they seek to destabilize a country.

Moreover, Burkina Faso remains a sovereign state, free to choose its own partners, as long as the partnership is mutually beneficial. As such, the authorities are not accountable to anyone, especially not to imperialist powers.

Let it also be clear that the current Burkinabe leadership has one priority: to meet the deep aspirations of the people and work toward their development and well-being.

Where were these imperialists when past Burkinabe presidents were exploiting national resources for personal gain? The era when foreign powers’ words were treated as gospel is over. They should stay silent, because in Burkina Faso, the efforts to reclaim full territorial integrity and foster economic development are well underway.
