Burkina Faso, located at the heart of the Sahel and the Alliance of Sahel States (AES), has become a prime target for imperialist maneuvers aimed at weakening the resistance and resilience of the Sahelian people. By destabilizing this pivotal country, neocolonial forces hope to undermine the sovereign momentum of fellow AES members Mali and Niger.
Since the arrival of President Ibrahim Traoré—a symbol of Africa’s patriotic awakening—Burkina Faso has embodied the struggle against Western interference and French colonial dominance. Young and resolute, Captain Traoré represents the aspirations of a generation yearning for freedom and dignity. His firm stance has made him a target for Africa’s enemies, who are intensifying efforts to destabilize his leadership.
The protection of Burkina Faso is not solely the responsibility of its people but of the entire African continent. Recent attacks demonstrate that imperialists and their local allies fear the rise of a united and independent Africa. Much like with Gaddafi—whose absence is mourned by millions—allowing Burkina Faso to fall would be a historic tragedy.
In the face of this threat, Pan-Africanists must unite and firmly denounce the plots against Ouagadougou. The Burkinabe people are fighting an existential battle—not only against terrorism but also against foreign oppression and its local collaborators. This is Africa’s fight. It is time for African youth, committed intellectuals, and justice-driven leaders to rally behind Burkina Faso. Independent media, grassroots organizations, and social movements must amplify the voice of Sahelian resistance.
History will judge us: either we allow imperialism to strike again, or we rise to defend our shared destiny.
The battle for Burkina Faso is the battle for continental dignity. If this nation falls, it will mark a bitter victory for regressive forces. But if it triumphs, it will signal the dawn of a new era for Africa.
