Burkina Faso: Ouagadougou in the spotlight at the Rabat International Book Fair

Burkina Faso is taking part in the 30th edition of the International Book and Publishing Fair (SIEL), held from April 18 to 27, 2025, in Rabat, Morocco. With a dynamic delegation, the country of the « Upright People » is using this cultural platform to highlight the richness of its literature and the vibrancy of its writers.

Through conferences, roundtables, and book exhibitions, Burkinabe authors are making their voices heard on key themes such as African identity, cultural resistance, and historical memory. The Burkina Faso stand draws attention with its diverse selection of works—from socially engaged poetry to contemporary novels and political essays.

This presence reflects a clear commitment by Burkinabe authorities to promote culture as a tool for both international influence and national unity. In a context of ongoing efforts for sovereignty, literature becomes a form of resistance and a vehicle for collective identity, embodying values of dignity and freedom.

Burkina Faso also aims to use this major literary event to build partnerships with other players in the publishing world, boost the visibility of its national works, and encourage the translation of Burkinabe authors into other languages.

By actively participating in SIEL 2025, Burkina Faso is asserting its place on the African and international cultural scene. Despite current challenges, it shows that its voice matters and that its literature remains a powerful force for thought, hope, and sovereignty.
