Togo: The Togo International Crafts Market to promote artisans and strengthen cooperation between nations

The International Craft Market of  Togo (MIATO) officially opens its doors on April 23, 2025, at the Togolese Center for Exhibitions and Trade Fairs (CETEF) in Lomé. This year’s theme, “Protecting Artistic Works: Challenges and Opportunities,” underscores the event’s commitment to preserving creativity while promoting the craftsmanship of artisans from Togo and across the continent.

More than just a marketplace, MIATO is a hub of opportunity—a showcase where artisans can forge partnerships, expand their visibility, and grow their presence in the African handicrafts sector.

Positioned as a major continental event, MIATO welcomes representatives from 14 countries including Belgium, Tunisia, Cameroon, Gabon, Chad, and Mali. Burkina Faso, this year’s guest of honor, reinforces the strong cooperation between Lomé and Ouagadougou.

Beyond business and trade, the event’s agenda features cultural performances, mobile civil registration services for artisans without birth certificates, and a special spotlight on the diverse craftsmanship of the Plateaux region.

The International Craft Market of Togo is more than an exhibition—it’s a regional integration platform that elevates African artisans and strengthens collaboration among states across the continent.
