Burkina-Faso: The AfDB, a strategic partner for national development aligned with the vision of the Head of State, Captain Ibrahim Traoré

Prime Minister Rimtalba Jean Emmanuel Ouédraogo met with a delegation from the African Development Bank (AfDB), led by Daniel Ndoye, the institution’s Country Manager for Burkina Faso.

This meeting was part of efforts to strengthen the historic and strategic cooperation between Burkina Faso and the AfDB. It provided an opportunity to review the progress made in implementing major projects supported by the Bank, as well as to discuss prospects for an even more ambitious collaboration.

With an active portfolio of around twenty projects worth nearly 500 billion CFA francs, covering key sectors such as transport infrastructure, energy, agriculture, water, sanitation, and social services, the AfDB remains a key financial partner for sustainable development in Burkina Faso.

The strong performance recorded in the implementation of these major projects reflects the excellent cooperation between the two parties, a partnership that both the Burkinabe government and the institution are eager to deepen, under the leadership of President Captain Ibrahim Traoré.

Accordingly, a high-level AfDB mission is expected in Ouagadougou this May to further strengthen this cooperation and jointly define strategic priorities for the coming years. This demonstrates the authorities‘ determination to work with all technical and financial partners in a spirit of efficiency, transparency, and results, in service of the well-being of the people and the sovereignty of Burkina Faso.
