The President of Faso and Head of State, Captain Ibrahim TRAORÉ, chaired the traditional Council of Ministers this Friday. Following the meeting, government spokesperson and minister Pingdwendé Gilbert OUEDRAOGO announced the adoption of several major measures, including a particularly innovative one: the institution of mandatory patriotic immersion for students who pass national school exams.
This decision is part of the Presidential Initiative for Quality Education for All, specifically Component 7, which aims to strengthen discipline and cleanliness in schools. The objective is clear: to help shape a youth that is aware, disciplined, and deeply committed to national values.
The patriotic immersion program will apply to students who pass the BEPC (Certificate of Lower Secondary Education), the CAP (Vocational Aptitude Certificate), and the Baccalaureate. It will include theoretical, physical, and sports training. This structured program will provide young Burkinabe with lessons in civic and patriotic values as well as basic self-defense skills—particularly relevant given the current national context.
A pilot phase will launch this year, starting with new Baccalaureate graduates from the upcoming exams. A ministerial decree will outline the practical details and duration of this unprecedented training. Through this reform, the Head of State aims to strengthen patriotic spirit among youth and promote the emergence of responsible citizens committed to defending Burkina Faso’s interests.
This immersion represents a decisive step toward rebuilding society by forming a new generation of patriots ready to contribute to sustainable development and national sovereignty. It reflects a strong political will to position Burkina Faso among the nations that prioritize education, citizenship, and patriotism as the foundation of their future.
