Malian President, General Assimi Goïta, has officially received the final report from the National Health Conference, presented by the Minister of Health and Social Development, Colonel Doctor Assa Badiallo Touré.
The nationwide conference, held from December 4 to 19, 2024, brought together all stakeholders in the health sector with a common goal: to profoundly reform Mali’s healthcare system. The final report outlines 973 recommendations, organized into 68 strategic areas and 286 activities, to be implemented over the 2025–2034 period.
Key proposals include strengthening the healthcare workforce and training, modernizing health infrastructure, integrating digital solutions, and promoting both the private health sector and traditional medicine.
Minister Touré praised the President’s vision and stressed the importance of collective commitment, even in the face of limited resources, to ensure equitable and sustainable access to healthcare services.
In response, President Goïta reaffirmed his political determination to significantly improve healthcare for all Malians and expressed full support for the implementation of the proposed reforms.
To ensure effective execution, a committee of health sector monitoring and evaluation experts will be established to oversee the implementation of the conference’s recommendations.
