La Liga: Robert Lewandowski in the MLS’s Sights

After a mixed 2023-2024 campaign, Barça will be changing its face next season. This explains the arrival of Hansi Flick as head coach a few weeks ago. The German coach succeeds Xavi Hernandez, who was dismissed after two and a half seasons on the Blaugrana bench. The Barça legend could even be followed by one of his now former players, namely Robert Lewandowski. Announced to be leaving for several weeks, the Polish international is in the sights of a Major League Soccer (MLS) club.

Arriving in the summer of 2022 from Bayern Munich, Robert Lewandowski had an exceptional first season (33 goals and 8 assists in all competitions) crowned with a Spanish championship title. However, the second season was less successful with 24 goals and 9 assists for the Pole, who had a complicated first half of the season. Under contract until 2026, the former Borussia Dortmund striker has been rumored to leave for several weeks.

And even though the arrival of his former coach at Bayern, Hansi Flick, might encourage him to stay, the Catalan management would not veto a departure of Lewandowski. This stance is understandable, as the Blaugrana club is still financially in the red while the player attracts considerable interest in the transfer market.

It is mainly in Saudi Arabia that Robert Lewandowski has suitors. A new popular destination for European stars, the Saudi Pro League has been eyeing the Poland captain, a future opponent of the French team at the Euro, for several weeks. But the Persian Gulf country now has a competitor in this matter. According to AS, Robert Lewandowski is of interest to MLS, particularly LA Galaxy.

According to the Spanish newspaper, the American club would like to pair the former Bavarian with his former Dortmund teammate, Marco Reus, whose arrival is reportedly well underway. Determined to secure Lewandowski’s services, LA Galaxy would even be ready to make another attempt in 2025 if the Pole remains committed to playing at least one more season at Barça.
