Burkina Faso: Patriotic support for the fight against terrorism, MID trade unions make their contribution

To effectively combat terrorism in Burkina Faso, every Burkinabe is being called upon to make a financial contribution to support the state in this war. In this context, the unions of the Ministry of Infrastructure and De-enclavement made their financial contribution on Monday, June 10, 2024, to support the fight against terrorism. Specifically, the unions of the MID contributed 58 million FCFA to the state’s coffers.

This sum, coming from all the unions within this ministry, is intended to support the FDS (Defense and Security Forces) and the VDP (Volunteers for the Defense of the Fatherland), who today are the pride of the entire Burkinabe people due to their daily efforts to ensure the country’s security. The Ministry of Infrastructure and De-enclavement played its part in the national territory’s reconquest by presenting this 58 million FCFA check during an official ceremony on Monday.

“Through this gesture, the staff and partners of this department aim to encourage the Defense and Security Forces (FDS) and the Volunteers for the Defense of the Fatherland (VDP) deployed in operations to reclaim the integrity of the territory”, stated the ministry’s communication cell.

Minister Sorgho emphasized that support for the national territory’s reconquest in Burkina Faso will continue until the complete liberation of the territory. This gesture is intended to galvanize the Burkinabe armed forces, particularly the FDS and VDP, who are engaged in a fierce fight against terrorism to ensure peace on Burkinabe soil.

It is hoped that other ministries will follow suit with even higher amounts than the 58 million, so that within a year or two, the dark chapters of terrorism will be permanently closed, and the money spent on arms can be redirected to other areas.
