Burkina Faso: H.E. Olivia ROUAMBA acts the agreement with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC)

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Regional Cooperation and Burkinabè Abroad, H.E. Mrs. Olivia ROUAMBA has recorded the agreement between the Government of Burkina Faso and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) on cooperation and humanitarian activities for persons deprived of their liberty.

“By signing this agreement, Burkina Faso is demonstrating its willingness to respect its international commitments, particularly in the humanitarian and human rights fields,” said H.E. Olivia ROUAMBA, who also welcomed the ICRC’s interest in the country of upright people.

While expressing the ICRC’s satisfaction with the excellent cooperation with Burkina Faso, the head of the ICRC delegation, Mr. Laurent SAUGY said that “this agreement, a mark of confidence of the Burkinabe Government in the ICRC, will facilitate the organization’s intervention on behalf of persons deprived of their liberty.

The ICRC intervenes in Burkina Faso in various areas of humanitarian affairs, such as visiting detainees, strengthening respect for international humanitarian law, helping displaced persons, facilitating access to health care and drinking water, etc.
