AES: Contributions of the citizens of these three countries to the creation of the confederation

In the wake of Mali, Burkina Faso, and Niger withdrawing from ECOWAS, a new era of sovereignty and regional cooperation is emerging for these nations. The creation of the AES Confederation (Alliance of Sahel States) represents an opportunity for these countries to take control of their destinies. However, for this vision to thrive, active public involvement is essential.

The success of the AES Confederation depends on the citizens’ engagement in decision-making processes. The populations need to be informed and aware of the objectives and benefits of this new alliance.

Communication campaigns, public forums, and citizen consultations can enable residents to actively contribute to the development of regional policies and strategies. Dynamic civic participation will enhance the legitimacy of the Confederation’s institutions and encourage more transparent and inclusive governance.

On the socioeconomic front, citizens of the three countries must collaborate to strengthen economic and social ties. The free movement of goods, people, and services is crucial to stimulate intra-regional trade and promote economic development.

Farmers, artisans, and entrepreneurs should be encouraged to exchange and cooperate, creating synergies that will benefit the entire region. Community initiatives and local development projects can also play a key role in improving living conditions and reducing poverty.

Solidarity among the populations is fundamental to overcoming common challenges. Faced with security threats and external pressures, citizens must mobilize to support efforts for stabilization and the defense of sovereignty. Awareness campaigns and educational programs can promote a culture of peace and peaceful coexistence, thereby strengthening social cohesion and community resilience.

The AES Confederation offers a unique opportunity for the people of Mali, Burkina Faso, and Niger to forge a prosperous and sovereign future. For this vision to become a reality, citizen engagement, economic and social cooperation, as well as solidarity and unity, must be at the heart of this collective effort.
