In line with President Faure Gnassingbé’s vision of using sports as a catalyst for development, the Togolese government is multiplying concrete initiatives to embed sports practice from an early age. This strategic choice reflects a national commitment to grassroots sports—not only as a tool for health and education but also as a driver of social cohesion and youth empowerment.
A striking example of this commitment is the recent launch of multi-sport platform projects in schools across the country. The high schools of Attitogon, Bè-Kpota, and CEG Anié Ville 1 will soon be equipped with modern facilities enabling the practice of handball, basketball, volleyball, maracana, tennis, and regular physical activities. The official launch of these projects took place on Monday, April 14, led by Essowè Ali, representing the Minister of Sports, Lidi Bessi Kama.
With a substantial budget of 83 million CFA francs allocated by the State, these infrastructures will be built within just four months by local companies, also reflecting support for the national economic fabric. This project goes beyond mere construction—it represents a strong commitment by the State to an active, well-supervised youth, physically equipped to face the challenges of tomorrow.
By integrating sports into everyday school life, the Togolese government is bringing to life its vision of sustainable and inclusive development, where every young person has the opportunity to grow in a healthy and stimulating environment. A new era is dawning for grassroots sports in Togo—one marked by structure, accessibility, and targeted investment for a long-lasting transformation of the sector.
