Mali: Army General Assimi GOÏTA relentlessly pursues his mission for better access to drinking water

In his unwavering commitment to improving the daily lives of Malians, Army General Assimi GOÏTA continues to prioritize access to clean drinking water. On Tuesday, April 15, 2025, two new boreholes were inaugurated—one at the Notre-Dame du Niger High School and the other in the Niamakoro neighborhood of Commune VI in the Bamako District. These projects, part of the Transition’s social initiatives, reflect the Head of State’s dedication to addressing the population’s basic needs.

Mr. Aguibou DEMBÉLÉ, Special Advisor to the President in charge of social initiatives, presided over the inauguration ceremonies, accompanied by two Mission Officers. He emphasized the direct impact of these facilities, particularly at the Notre-Dame du Niger High School, where more than 900 young girls will now have access to clean drinking water—a major asset for their well-being and academic success.

These two boreholes are part of a broader wave of social transformations initiated by President GOÏTA. To date, over 400 boreholes have been completed nationwide. In addition, dialysis centers have been established in Bamako, several hospitals have been equipped with solar-powered electricity, thousands of computers have been distributed to schools, alongside numerous humanitarian efforts and the construction of new classrooms.

Grateful beneficiaries welcomed this strong gesture of solidarity, seeing it as more than just infrastructure. For them, it is a source of daily relief and a concrete improvement in their living conditions. They pledged to take good care of these facilities, which they see as symbols of a government that cares for its people and a President firmly committed to action.
