Soon, the recruitment of 2,000 police officers to reinforce the army ranks—part of the government’s ongoing commitment to fighting terrorism, insecurity, and all other forms of threats. This decision was approved during the Council of Ministers held on Wednesday, April 16, under the leadership of the Head of State, Captain Ibrahim Traoré.
As part of its strategy to reclaim full control of its territory, the Burkinabe government is mobilizing both financial and human resources. These sons and daughters of the nation, soon to join the security forces, are expected to serve with patriotism and dedication in defending their homeland.
These police officers and non-commissioned officers will be tasked with serving the nation’s interests amid an ongoing crisis, working alongside their senior counterparts to strengthen the progress made in the fight against terrorism. Their mission includes the complete recovery of national territory and ensuring the safety of people and property.
It’s important to highlight that the Burkinabe authorities are focusing on strengthening the effectiveness of the national army—both in terms of personnel and equipment—in order to restore peace in the « Land of Upright People ».
Notably, the recruitment will include 2,000 non-commissioned officers, 50 of whom will be women. Special quotas will be allocated to members of the Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP), Auxiliary Security Volunteers (VADS), and widows of fallen Defense and Security Forces.
