Burkina Faso: Her Excellency Olivia ROUAMBA granted an audience to the Russian Ambassador His Excellency Alexey Saltykov.

On the evening of April 10th, 2023, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Regional Cooperation, and Burkinabe Abroad, Her Excellency Mrs. Olivia Rouamba, received in audience the Ambassador of the Russian Federation, His Excellency Mr. Alexey Saltykov.

 «This is a very normal visit that is part of the framework of strengthening cooperation between the two states», reported His Excellency Mr. Alexey Saltykov.

The Ambassador reaffirmed Moscow’s desire to intensify collaboration with Ouagadougou in various areas of cooperation, including security, agriculture, culture, trade, scientific research, and vocational training. This includes an increase in the number of scholarships for Burkinabe students to study in Russia.

The Burkinabe Foreign Minister praised the progress made in cooperation between the two countries and expressed the gratitude of Burkina Faso for Moscow’s evident support. «We appreciate the presence of the Russian Federation by our side as a reliable partner», she affirmed.

While praising the quality of the discussions, Her Excellency Mrs. Olivia Rouamba also renewed Burkina Faso’s friendship with the Russian Federation.

During their meeting, the two parties also discussed international current affairs and agreed to provide reciprocal support for their candidacies in UN organizations.

It is also worth noting that Ouagadougou and Moscow intend to strengthen cooperation instruments at the second Summit of the Russia-Africa Economic and Humanitarian Forum, scheduled for July in Saint Petersburg.
