The Nigerien authorities have officially accepted the credentials of Mr. Gildas Habib Bignon Agonkan, the new ambassador of the Republic of Benin to Niger. This acceptance comes shortly after a high-level Nigerien delegation visited Cotonou, sent by Niger’s transitional president, General Abdourahamane Tiani.

The credential presentation ceremony was held at the office of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Cooperation, and Nigeriens Abroad, His Excellency Bakary Yaou Sangaré. He expressed his satisfaction with Mr. Agonkan’s appointment and emphasized the importance of the relationship between Niger and Benin.

This meeting marks a significant step in strengthening diplomatic and cooperative ties between the two countries. As members of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), Benin and Niger share common interests in security, economic development, and regional stability.

The recent visit of a Nigerien delegation to Cotonou reflects the willingness of both countries to consolidate their relations. The delegation, sent by the Nigerien transitional president, highlights the importance placed on this bilateral cooperation.

The acceptance of Mr. Agonkan’s credentials comes at a crucial time when regional stability and development are priorities for both nations. The appointment of a new ambassador underscores Benin’s commitment to supporting and collaborating with Niger in various areas of common interest.

Mr. Agonkan’s diplomatic mission in Niger promises to invigorate the relations between the two countries. By focusing on security, trade, and cultural and educational exchanges, this enhanced collaboration is likely to yield mutual benefits and contribute to the region’s stability and development.
