Togo / Financial reforms: Concrete measures for transparent management of State resources

0

Under the leadership of President Faure Gnassingbé, Togo continues its efforts to improve public financial management and strengthen governance. During the Council of Ministers meeting on September 18, two new decrees were adopted to regulate the management of state resources.

The first decree creates material accounting positions in ministries and institutions, tasked with ensuring proper management of the state’s movable and immovable assets. These accountants will be accountable to the Court of Auditors, thereby reinforcing transparency.

The second decree establishes a treasury within each ministry, facilitating the execution of expenses and improving asset traceability as part of the budgetary program initiated three years ago.

These reforms, part of a broader approach pursued over the past decade, reflect the government’s commitment to ensuring stricter management of public finances, thereby promoting accountability and transparency.
