Chris Brown granted bail in London nightclub assault case

Grammy-winning artist Chris Brown has been released on £5 million bail following his arrest last week over an alleged 2023 nightclub assault in London’s Mayfair district. The 36-year-old singer, accused of attacking a music producer with a tequila bottle at Tape nightclub, must pay £4 million upfront and an additional £1 million within a week as a court guarantee.
Southwark Crown Court permitted Brown’s release under conditions allowing him to proceed with his June 8 world tour kickoff in Amsterdam, including UK stops in Manchester, London, and Glasgow.
The « Under the Influence » singer, who denies the grievous bodily harm charge, avoided entering a plea during Wednesday’s hearing.
The case adjourns as Brown prepares for his 25-date European tour, with prosecutors building evidence from CCTV and witness testimonies. The singer’s legal team maintains his innocence, citing self-defense claims.
Brown’s 2009 assault conviction against Rihanna continues to shadow the R&B star’s career amid fresh legal scrutiny.
