Committed and determined to secure Niger’s territory, its population, and their property, the authorities and defense and security forces of Niger are intensifying their efforts. The launch of Operation Tsaron Kassa on August 10 against smuggling and crime in all its forms is part of these efforts aimed at ensuring the country’s economic sovereignty.

In the Zinder region, the defense and security forces have demonstrated professionalism and bravery by intercepting a significant quantity of products intended for illegal trade. According to reports, this includes 58.485 liters of gasoline and diesel, 1,415 liters of lubricating oils, and 7.5 kg of domestic gas, revealing an illegal network for distributing hydrocarbons.

The seizure included 2,447,800 units of cigarettes, 55 packages of pharmaceutical products, as well as various drugs—among which were 3.692 kg of narcotics and several banned medications—along with 82 vehicles, 462 motorcycles, 17,690 liters of vegetable oils, 742 cartons of pasta, clothing (4,491 units), costume jewelry (5,296 pieces), and various consumer goods.

This demonstrates the scale of illegal goods transiting through the Zinder region in southern Niger and reflects, according to various opinions, the effectiveness of Operation Tsaron Kassa. The government hopes that this operation will encourage citizens to support the fight against fraud and actively participate in building a more sovereign and prosperous Niger.
