DRC: The Congolese people support president Félix Tshisekedi’s vision for constitutional revision
During his recent meeting at the Kipushi stadium, following the launch of mining activities at the Kico factory, President Félix Tshisekedi once again demonstrated his commitment to the aspirations of the Congolese people, especially the youth.
In a speech lasting over thirty minutes, the Head of State urged young people to remain vigilant in the face of destabilizing attempts. “Do not allow yourselves to be manipulated by those who want to destabilize our country”, he emphasized, receiving overwhelming support from the audience.
The popular support for constitutional revision was clearly expressed through repeated interruptions from the crowd, chanting their desire for change. Responding firmly, President Félix Tshisekedi declared: “I consider it an insult to the Congolese elite to prevent us from reflecting on our Constitution”. This response strengthened the confidence of the Congolese people in their leader, who refuses to be dictated to in ways that go against the nation’s interests.
In line with this vision, the Head of State announced the upcoming establishment of a commission to consider revising or changing the Constitution. This initiative, as the guarantor of the nation, reflects President Félix Tshisekedi’s desire to steer the Democratic Republic of Congo towards political modernization, listening to the aspirations of its citizens.
This speech in Kipushi, like the one delivered in Lubumbashi the day before, reaffirms that President Félix Tshisekedi places the people at the heart of his decisions, responding to their call for reforms that embody their hopes for the country’s future.
