Burkina Faso: Strengthening economic sovereignty through Public-Private dialogue
The 21st edition of the Government/Private Sector Meeting kicked off on Friday, November 22, 2024, in Bobo-Dioulasso, under the theme: “Contribution of National Investors in Endogenous Development Initiatives and Strengthening Burkina Faso’s Economic Sovereignty.” The event, presided over by Prime Minister Apollinaire Joachimson Kyélèm de Tambèla, is being held at the Maison de la Culture Mgr Anselme Titianma Sanon.
For two days, business leaders from the 13 regions and various sectors will engage with the government on practical solutions to enhance national economic sovereignty. Minister of Industry, Commerce, and Handicrafts, Serge Poda, emphasized the significance of this dialogue space, which fosters a public-private partnership essential for overcoming barriers to the country’s economic and social emergence.
The meeting is designed to be participatory, following regional and sectoral consultations with entrepreneurs to address unresolved issues from previous editions. Current discussions aim to develop concrete recommendations that will be reviewed, implemented, and monitored by a dedicated steering committee.
This year’s theme holds strategic importance, urging participants to reflect on the role of local investors in building an economic model based on indigenous resources and initiatives. According to Minister Poda, achieving economic sovereignty requires enhanced dialogue and coordinated strategic actions.
Over the next 48 hours, the discussions will focus on identifying solutions to ongoing challenges, while fostering an environment conducive to private sector growth. This initiative reflects the government’s commitment to building a resilient economy that meets the aspirations of the Burkinabe people.
By bringing together public and private sector stakeholders, this meeting represents a collective effort to strengthen Burkina Faso’s economic independence while forging a unified vision for national development.
