Burkina Faso: Fight against terrorism, a victorious November for the FDS and VDP
In November, the Burkinabe Defense and Security Forces (FDS) and Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP) launched large-scale operations on several fronts to push back the terrorist groups operating across the country. These coordinated actions led to significant victories, strengthening the hope for a return to security and peace in Burkina Faso.
In the Sahel region, the forces engaged in a decisive offensive in the Ouellé area (near Titao), where terrorist camps were dismantled. These operations resulted in the neutralization of several enemy fighters and the recovery of substantial stocks of weapons and ammunition. A similar operation targeted a large weapons and fuel cache in Taouremba, in the Soum region, with aerial bombardments. These victories severely weakened the logistical capabilities of the groups in this strategic area.
In the north, particularly in the Pobé-Mengao and Gargaboulé areas, the FDS and VDP successfully repelled coordinated attacks on strategic positions. Thanks to tactical preparation and effective cooperation with local populations, the attackers were routed, marking a major setback for the armed groups attempting to establish a permanent foothold.
These successes are the result of the courage and determination of the FDS and VDP, who, despite difficult conditions, continue to defend Burkina Faso’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. Their commitment inspires the entire nation and calls for strengthened collaboration with civilian populations to provide intelligence and support defense efforts.
The battle is far from over, but the progress made in November 2024 is a testament to the resilience against the forces of evil. Together, the people and the fighting forces of Burkina Faso will triumph.
