Togo: Towards an Ambitious and Socially Committed 2025 Budget

The government of Togo , during a Council of Ministers meeting on Tuesday, November 26, 2024, approved the draft Finance Law for the fiscal year 2025. This budget, which amounts to 2,394.2 billion CFA francs, reflecting a 9.9% increase over 2024, is designed to address the ongoing global economic crises and a tense financial environment, while also considering regional security challenges.

A key highlight of the budget is its strong focus on social priorities, with a record 49.7% of the total budget allocated for economic and social inclusion. This aim is to improve the living conditions of the population, support the most vulnerable, and meet basic needs, while reinforcing the progress made in previous years. In parallel, significant efforts will be dedicated to strengthening national security to protect citizens against rising threats.

President Faure Gnassingbé emphasized the importance of effective public spending and the quality of services provided to citizens. Before implementation, this budget will be reviewed and voted on by the National Assembly, in accordance with the democratic principles of the country.
