Burkina Faso/Solidarity: President Ibrahim TRAORE and his government double their efforts to help war victims
“Promise made, promise kept”, is often said, and the President of Faso, Captain Ibrahim TRAORÉ, and his government are committed to this logic, no matter the challenges faced. Under the leadership of the Head of State, the Burkinabe government has decided to provide adequate support to the victims of the war the country is waging against the enemies in the bush. These victims include widows, orphans of fallen soldiers, and war casualties.
On May 4, 2023, President Ibrahim TRAORÉ, through a decree, established a structure to support the aforementioned individuals, and today, this has become a reality. On Tuesday, December 17, 2024, the Minister of State for Defense, Brigadier General Célestin Simporé, officially launched the activities of the Agency for the Support of Widows, Orphans, and War Victims (ASVOVIG).
According to official sources, the primary mission of this agency is to improve the care and psychosocial support for widows, orphans, and war victims. The services range from legal assistance and material support to moral support, as well as training and socio-professional reintegration. Everything is being done to show these individuals the full gratitude of the nation for their sacrifices.
For the Minister of State, Minister of Defense and Veterans Affairs, the creation of this agency reflects the government’s firm commitment to addressing the human tragedies caused by armed conflicts. This initiative adds to the many measures already undertaken by the President and his government in support of the defense and security forces, who are resolutely dedicated to protecting the nation’s territory.
