After months of silence, Paul Pogba has finally spoken out following the court ruling on his brother Mathias and five other individuals involved in the extortion case that rocked his life in 2022.

The Paris court sentenced the accused to prison terms of up to eight years, with Mathias Pogba receiving a one-year prison sentence. The trial, which uncovered a disturbing episode of kidnapping and extortion involving several of Pogba’s close relatives, has captivated the nation for weeks.

In an official statement, Paul Pogba expressed his relief after the verdict: “I can finally turn the page on this extremely painful period. This conclusion is an opportunity for everyone to focus on the future”. The 2018 World Cup winner, who has faced a difficult period due to his doping suspension and the termination of his contract with Juventus, seems ready to move forward.

He added that he would now focus entirely on his return to professional football, expected in March 2025 after the Court of Arbitration for Sport reduced his ban.

Currently without a club, Pogba has attracted interest from several teams, notably Olympique de Marseille. While discussions are ongoing, Marseille fans are already dreaming of seeing him play at the Vélodrome, a challenge the midfielder may consider in the months ahead.
