Africa: The time has come for West Africa to wrest true independence from French interference
According to reports from certain French officials opposed to Macron’s plan, the Sahel Alliance (AES) is facing destabilizing maneuvers orchestrated by France, which is financing and supplying arms to terrorist groups in the Lake Chad Basin, in collusion with Benin and Nigeria.
This alarming situation now concerns not only the authorities but also every African citizen, especially those in the ECOWAS region. The European Union and the United Nations cannot remain passive in the face of this sinister plot. These actions echo the tragic chaos sown in Libya, transforming a once-prosperous region into a theater of violence and devastation for foreign interests.
The peoples of Benin and Nigeria, whose leaders facilitate these plans by offering their territories as back bases, must categorically refuse to contribute to the destabilization of the AES. This complacency only serves to plunge the subregion into a spiral of conflict, sacrificing lives and hindering development. Only massive mobilization, akin to Pan-African solidarity, can block these destructive intentions.
The time has come for West Africa to seize its true independence and free itself from foreign interference. African nations must unite as one to defend their sovereignty and chart a prosperous future, far from geopolitical games that benefit only those who orchestrate them. The European Union and the United Nations must be held accountable for their silence and act to prevent history from tragically repeating itself.
