Burkina Faso / ALT: Recognition ceremony for retirees and decorated agents

On Monday, January 6, 2025, the Transitional Legislative Assembly (ALT) held a ceremony in Ouagadougou to honor its retired staff members and those decorated by the Burkinabe Nation. Presided over by Dr. Ousmane Bougouma, this initiative highlighted the importance of each actor in realizing the vision of “legislating differently”.

In a speech full of gratitude, Dr. Bougouma praised the efforts of the nine individuals who were honored during the Independence Day celebrations. “You have been recognized as worthy of mention for your professionalism. In turn, we express the parliamentary institution’s gratitude for your dedication”, he stated, encouraging them to continue on this path. He compared the decoration to a recognition of encouragement, urging the awardees to strive for excellence.

Addressing the retired staff members, the president of the ALT expressed appreciation for their many years of service. “You have made this House of Parliament proud. The time has come for you to rest, but know that your contributions will remain a source of inspiration. Consider this step as a new beginning”, he encouraged. Certificates of appreciation were presented to the retirees, marking the institution’s recognition of their commitment.

Henry Koné, a former parliamentary staff member who served for 30 years, expressed his satisfaction : “It is a blessing to retire after a long career. I thank the president for his efforts on behalf of the staff”.

Dr. Bougouma concluded by extending his best wishes for the year 2025, urging all staff members to redouble their efforts to face the challenges ahead. This ceremony reaffirmed the ALT’s commitment to valuing its personnel, whether they are in service or retired.
