In 2024, Togo made significant strides in modernizing its healthcare system, reflecting the strategic vision of President Faure Gnassingbé. Under his leadership, notable efforts were made to improve the quality of care and strengthen healthcare infrastructure, benefiting the entire Togolese population.

Among the key initiatives, the modernization of the University Hospitals (CHU) in Lomé and Kara stands out. These renovations aim to improve patient care and provide medical services that meet international standards. By focusing on the quality of equipment and facilities, the government demonstrates a clear commitment to making these centers hubs of excellence in healthcare and medical training.

Another ambitious project is underway: the opening of six mother-child hospitals by the end of 2025. These specialized facilities will focus on the health of mothers and children, two often vulnerable groups. Consequently, Togo aims to significantly reduce infant and maternal mortality while improving access to prenatal and pediatric care.

These advances are part of a broader strategy to strengthen healthcare infrastructure and improve access to care for all. They also reflect President Faure Gnassingbé’s commitment to building an inclusive healthcare system capable of addressing the current and future challenges facing the country.

With these developments, Togo is positioning itself as a model of healthcare development in West Africa. The initiatives undertaken demonstrate not only strong political will but also a sincere desire to provide every citizen with the necessary conditions to live in good health and with dignity.
