Geopolitics:  China ready to retort against any sanctions imposed by the European Union on its companies

On Tuesday, the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that any unilateral sanctions imposed by the European Union on Chinese companies would be met with a response.

The British newspaper Financial Times reported that the EU has proposed sanctions on Chinese companies accused of selling equipment to Russia that could be used by its military.

During a joint press conference with his German counterpart Annalina Baerbock in Berlin, Chinese Foreign Minister Qin Gang denied reports that Chinese companies had supplied weapons to Russia.

«We have not sent any weapons to these conflict zones because this contradicts Chinese law», Gang said.

He added that they are closely monitoring the export of dual-use goods.

Qin Gang also emphasized the need to «not disrupt normal exchanges and cooperation» between Chinese and Russian companies.
