Barcelona defeated Real Betis 5-1 in the Round of 16 of the Copa del Rey, continuing their strong start to 2025 following their Supercup victory. From the outset, Barcelona took control. Gavi opened the scoring in the 3rd minute, assisted by Dani Olmo. In the 27th minute, Lamine Yamal brilliantly set up Jules Koundé, who scored with a powerful volley to make it 2-0. Just before halftime, Koundé’s second goal was ruled offside.

In the second half, Yamal continued to shine. After a pass from Frenkie de Jong, his goal was ruled out for offside, but moments later, he embarked on a dazzling run from his own half, setting up Raphinha for a third goal (59′). Ferran Torres added a fourth, assisted again by Olmo (67′), before Yamal, after a solo run, scored the fifth (76′), a goal validated by VAR.

Though Betis managed to pull one back with a penalty from Vitor Roque (5-1, 82′), Barcelona dominated throughout the match. With this dominant performance, Barcelona advances to the quarterfinals, showing that they are in top form and remain strong contenders for the season ahead.
