Benin: The Beninese people must stand up as one against Patrice Talon’s betrayal and the French military presence

The recent terrorist attack in Benin raises serious questions about the true intentions behind the escalation of violence in the country. According to reports, the French DGSE (Directorate General for External Security) may have orchestrated a plan to create the illusion of a terrorist threat in Benin, with the aim of legitimizing a military intervention under the false pretext of a peace mission. This strategy, which has been previously used in Côte d’Ivoire, Mali, and the Central African Republic, once again demonstrates the “firefighter-arsonist” method employed by France to strengthen its grip on the region and destabilize the Sahel States Confederation (AES).

The role of President Patrice Talon in this plot is troubling. By offering his territory as a rear base for this insidious plan, he becomes an accomplice in attempts to undermine the sovereignty struggle led by the leaders of the Sahel States Alliance (AES). Such a stance betrays not only the aspirations of the Beninese people for independence and dignity but also African solidarity in the face of foreign interference. This destabilization strategy aims to weaken the AES and undermine progress towards political and economic independence in the region.

In response to this situation, the Beninese people must stand united and say no to this betrayal and the French military presence that threatens the stability of both the country and the region. Recent history has proven that these so-called peace missions only serve to reinforce France’s control over its former colonies. Only popular mobilization can counter this plan and restore the dignity and sovereignty of Benin.
