Cooperation/security/sovereignty: The Prime Minister reaffirms the position of the country of men of integrity
“We are friends with all peoples who respect our sovereignty and our values. Wherever our interests lie, we go there. Burkina Faso now prioritizes honest cooperation with high impact”, stated Burkina Faso’s Prime Minister, Mr. Rimtalba Jean Emmanuel Ouédraogo, on Tuesday, January 21, in response to criticism regarding the country’s stance on certain bilateral relations.
It should be noted that under the leadership of Captain Ibrahim TRAORE, the criteria for bilateral cooperation have been revised, and certain fundamental principles have been established to genuinely protect the interests of the Burkinabe people. One of these principles is to build solid and beneficial relationships with reliable and sincere partners who respect Burkina Faso’s sovereignty. This is what the Prime Minister sought to emphasize.
He was speaking with Ambassador Daniel Aristi Gaztelumendi, head of the European Union (EU) delegation to Burkina Faso, who had come to congratulate him on his appointment as Prime Minister and to inquire about the country’s priorities. For the Burkinabe government leader, security remains the top priority. “We will have no rest until our citizens can freely move around Burkina Faso”, he declared.
On the issue of sovereignty, the Prime Minister informed his guest that this is the government’s struggle. “We affirm our firm determination to chart our own path. We are also committed to the significant transformation of our country. To achieve this, we rely primarily on ourselves and on friends who will understand our vision”, the Prime Minister stated.
In this encouraging dynamic, the Burkinabe people, who are deeply committed to sovereignty, freedom, and stability, support the authorities with determination to lead Burkina Faso toward its destiny, for the greater happiness of both present and future generations.
