Togo: The Government intensifies support for the private sector to foster sustainable development
The Togolese government continues to place the private sector at the heart of its development strategy, recognizing its key role in economic transformation and job creation. This commitment is clearly demonstrated through the second edition of the Private Sector Days, which officially opened on Tuesday, January 28, under the theme of partnerships between large enterprises and Very Small and Medium Enterprises (VSMEs). Over the course of three days, this event, organized by the Ministry of Trade in collaboration with private sector actors, provides a platform for fruitful exchanges on the challenges and solutions to strengthen the entrepreneurial ecosystem.
VSMEs, which represent a major part of Togo’s economic fabric, are receiving increasing support from the authorities. In recent years, the government, with the support of technical and financial partners, has rolled out several initiatives to enhance their competitiveness. Financing programs, specialized training, and networking platforms have been created to promote their growth. The creation of spaces such as the subcontracting forum, which will be the highlight of the Private Sector Days, is a testament to this proactive and inclusive approach.
Through these efforts, Togo reaffirms its commitment to accelerating economic growth by fostering collaboration between large enterprises and VSMEs. This dynamic, driven by a strengthened public-private partnership, reinforces the central role of VSMEs as a lever for sustainable and inclusive development.
