Under the leadership of the Transitional President, His Excellency Army General Assimi GOĂŹTA, the Mali Council of Ministers adopted, on Wednesday, January 29, 2025, draft texts regarding the creation, organization, and operational modalities of the Bandiagara Polytechnic University.

The adoption of this project is based on the recommendations of a university mission established in May 2023, which aimed to assess the feasibility of a higher education institution in the Bandiagara region. After a thorough analysis, the final report, delivered last April, confirmed the necessity of establishing a polytechnic university in the region to meet the growing demand for technical and scientific education.

The Bandiagara Polytechnic University aims to train a new generation of skilled professionals in strategic fields such as engineering, agriculture, information technology, and applied sciences. It aligns with the authorities’ desire to diversify the educational offerings and provide young Malians with learning opportunities suited to the current challenges facing the country.

This project is also part of a broader effort to strengthen the decentralization of higher education in Mali by bringing educational infrastructure closer to the population and promoting the economic development of the regions.
