The Malian capital, Bamako, will host a major event in April 2025: the first conference of the Sahel States Confederation (AES) dedicated to higher education and scientific research. Announced during the Malian Council of Ministers, this event will take place under the theme “The Contribution of Higher Education and Scientific Research to the Strategic Development of the Sahel States Confederation”.

This conference marks a key milestone in shaping educational and scientific policies within the AES. Its goal is to strengthen academic cooperation between Burkina Faso, Mali, and Niger by establishing common strategies for high-quality higher education and scientific research tailored to the challenges of the Sahel region.

Experts, academics, and policymakers attending the conference will explore ways to adapt educational systems to the realities of the region, while promoting technological and scientific innovation. Training young people, valuing indigenous knowledge, and integrating new technologies will be at the heart of the discussions.

By consolidating a shared academic space, the AES aims to accelerate the socio-economic development of its member states, with research and education as pillars of sovereignty and progress.
