DRC: President Félix Tshisekedi reiterates his commitment to peace and stability
President Félix Tshisekedi once again demonstrates his commitment to peace and stability in the DRC by receiving, on Monday at the African Union Headquarters, a delegation from the National Episcopal Conference of Congo and the Church of Christ in Congo (CENCO-ECC). Led by Cardinal Fridolin Ambongo, these religious leaders presented a crisis exit plan for the eastern part of the country. Attentive to their proposal, the Head of State praised this initiative and encouraged their efforts, showing his openness to the suggestions from civil society and religious leaders for a lasting resolution to the conflict.
Sensitive to the suffering of the affected populations, H.E. Félix Tshisekedi emphasized the importance of national cohesion and unity in the face of security challenges. The Secretary General of the ECC echoed this call from the President, stressing the need for a common understanding of the issues weighing on the country’s future. This meeting illustrates the government’s desire to collaborate with all the nation’s key forces to restore peace and secure a better future for the Congolese people.
For their part, representatives from both churches expressed their solidarity with the populations of North Kivu, reaffirming their commitment to work for a concerted solution. Cardinal Fridolin Ambongo delivered a message of hope to the residents of this war-torn region, reminding them that they are not alone and that they remain at the heart of the prayers and actions of religious institutions. This dialogue between President Félix Tshisekedi and religious leaders marks a key step in the search for an inclusive and lasting response to the crisis shaking eastern DRC.
