Mali: Army General Assimi Goïta reaffirms his commitment to his country’s sovereignty
During the presentation of New Year’s greetings by the diplomatic corps, Army General Assimi Goïta reiterated his commitment to the sovereignty of Mali. He highlighted the progress made since the beginning of the Transition, emphasizing international cooperation based on mutual respect and shared interests.
The President of the Transition praised the growing support from partners for Mali’s core principles, while stressing the security and diplomatic advancements achieved through the Confederation of Sahel States.
General Assimi Goïta reminded everyone that the defense of territorial integrity and the fight against terrorism remain top priorities. He highlighted the strengthening of military capabilities and the moral rearmament of the Armed Forces, which have enabled the recapture of several strategic areas. He also underscored the importance of development and culture as pillars of stability, announcing that 2025 will be the “Year of Culture” in Mali.
The head of state concluded by emphasizing the need to maintain a strong focus on security, governance, and international cooperation. He reaffirmed that Mali, together with its AES partners, remains firmly committed to building a future based on self-determination and shared prosperity.
