Burkina Faso/Security: Between resettling displaced populations and consolidating gains, the Ministry remains committed

Immediately after leaving the Prime Minister’s office, where he reaffirmed his commitment to effective internal security and a more intense fight against the enemies of the Nation, the Minister in charge of Security mobilized his team for the cause. In front of Prime Minister Rimtalba Jean-Emmanuel Ouédraogo, Minister Mahamadou SANA stated that many challenges remain to be addressed.
Despite the efforts made in 2024, which led to a 92% achievement rate of the objectives, the Minister of Security acknowledged the challenges facing his department. According to him, further efforts are needed to reach an optimal level of execution. Indeed, it is up to the ministry to strengthen internal security and territorial defense, improve road safety, and protect the road infrastructure.
Regarding this matter, the divisional police commissioner, Minister Mahamadou SANA, committed to mobilizing more resources to intensify actions. According to the Minister, the continuation of the resettlement of displaced persons and the consolidation of achievements remain important and essential. Collaboration between all involved actors is crucial, and the Minister organized the first Administrative Council of the Ministry Sector (CASEM) for Security.
The discussions focused on the theme: “Dynamics of reclaiming national territory: what reforms in terms of internal security?” According to reports, this meeting led to the formulation of possible solutions in the form of reforms aimed at significantly contributing to achieving the ministry’s objectives.
For the Minister in charge of this government department, it is crucial to work tirelessly for a restored peace and reinforced national sovereignty, as desired by the Head of State, Captain Ibrahim TRAORÉ. Hence, the mobilization of actors is essential, as it is said that people can go far when working together.
