Burkina Faso : Patriotism in action, the commune of Lalgaye donates a surveillance drone to support and defend the homeland

On Sunday, February 23, 2025, in Tenkodogo, the Lalgaye Communal Initiative made a remarkable gesture in favor of the Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP) of Lalgaye, located in the Koulpélogo province in the Center-East region. This association, created to assist populations facing insecurity, donated a surveillance drone, two tons of rice, and ten 20-liter cans of oil. These donations aim to strengthen the fight against the terrorist threat looming over the commune.
According to Issa Kanazoé, president of the Lalgaye Communal Initiative, the drone was financed by a native of the commune living abroad, while the food supplies were provided by another Lalgaye resident living in Ouagadougou. “This contribution will significantly support the defense and security forces (FDS), the VDP, and the entire population,” said Naba Molfo, the customary chief of Lalgaye. He also pointed out that similar initiatives have already taken place in the past, although they were not widely publicized. Naba Molfo praised the commitment of the Communal Initiative, whose actions have strengthened the resilience of the inhabitants in the face of adversity.
Saidou Ouédraogo, the High Commissioner of the Koulpélogo province, called this gesture “a tangible proof of the solidarity of the sons and daughters of Lalgaye”. He stated that this support would enhance the operational capabilities of the FDS and the VDP, while reinforcing the population’s resistance to the terrorist threat. The High Commissioner expressed his gratitude to the donors and assured that the resources would be used responsibly. He also urged the beneficiaries to make wise use of the drone and food supplies in the interest of the entire community.
Furthermore, Saidou Ouédraogo called on the generosity of the province’s residents, encouraging them to mobilize to support vulnerable populations and contribute to peace efforts. This drone is the second of its kind given by the Lalgaye diaspora to their hometown, thus demonstrating their commitment to the security and well-being of their native land. This initiative once again highlights the importance of solidarity in the fight against insecurity and in building a better future.
