0

In response to the recurring challenges posed by seasonal flooding, Togo, under the leadership of President Faure Gnassingbé, has implemented an integrated approach combining prevention, early warning, and assistance to victims. Thanks to this strategic vision, notable progress has been made in protecting populations and infrastructure.

In urban centers, rigorous campaigns for the maintenance of rainwater drainage networks have now become a priority for public works. This proactive policy aims to limit the risk of blockages and ensure better runoff of rainfall during periods of heavy rain.

Aware of the climate urgency, the government has also invested in the construction of hydraulic works and the establishment of a national flood zone mapping system. This system allows the identification of high-risk areas and the timely activation of alerts for a better response to bad weather.

As part of the 2025 budget, an allocation of 1.42 billion CFA francs has been earmarked for the modernization of sanitation infrastructure, particularly in the urban areas most vulnerable to flooding. This financial commitment reflects the President’s determination to strengthen the country’s resilience to climate hazards.

Under the enlightened leadership of President Faure Gnassingbé, Togo once again demonstrates its determination to protect its citizens and build a safer, more sustainable environment for all.
