FC Barcelona dominates Real Sociedad 4-0 to reclaim top spot in La Liga

In the 26th round of La Liga, FC Barcelona dominated Real Sociedad 4-0 at the Montjuic Stadium, a crucial match for the Catalans who were looking to capitalize on a slip-up by Real Madrid. The game was changed early with the red card for Aritz Elustondo. In the 17th minute, the Real Sociedad defender was sent off for a foul on Dani Olmo as the last man, leaving the Basque side down to ten players for the remainder of the match.
Barcelona took full advantage of the situation. After several attempts, they opened the scoring in the 25th minute thanks to a precise shot from Jordi Alba. A few minutes later, Olmo doubled the lead in the 29th minute with a shot deflected by Casado. Barcelona continued to dominate, and just before halftime, they came close to adding more goals.
In the second half, Barcelona kept pressing. Araujo scored a third goal in the 56th minute from a corner, and Lewandowski made it 4-0 in the 60th minute with a well-placed shot. Real Sociedad, already reduced to ten men, couldn’t respond, and the final minutes of the game were more subdued.
With this victory, FC Barcelona reclaimed the top spot in the standings, while Real Sociedad remains in 9th place and will need to fight for a European spot. Barcelona’s next match will be against Osasuna.
