Burkina Faso: President Traoré equips the army with a state-of-the-art mobile hospital for those wounded in operations

On Tuesday, March 11, 2025, the Burkinabe Head of State, Captain Ibrahim Traoré, officially handed over an ultramodern mobile field hospital to the Ministry of Defense and Veterans. This state-of-the-art medical facility, consisting of two specialized vehicles, is designed to improve the care of soldiers injured in operations, directly on the battlefield.
This mobile hospital, with an eight-hour autonomy, is designed to provide immediate and quality care to fighters in secure zones. The first vehicle is equipped with a medical imaging module, allowing for scans, X-rays, and laboratory analyses. The second vehicle houses a fully functional surgical operating room, capable of performing emergency surgeries.
“This system allows for the quick diagnosis and surgery of the injured, thus reducing the risks associated with long and dangerous evacuations”, explained Commander Doctor Daouda Sawadogo. He also highlighted that this mobile hospital can be deployed close to operational zones to provide immediate medical care before potential evacuation to a central hospital.
During the key handover ceremony, Captain Ibrahim Traoré expressed his satisfaction with the acquisition of this equipment. “Too often, the injured lose their lives during evacuation. With this mobile hospital, we can now offer urgent care on-site, which will save lives”, he said.
In addition to the two vehicles, the mobile hospital is accompanied by 80 foldable hospital beds, allowing for appropriate care tailored to the needs of the injured. According to Dr. Sawadogo, this system can also be used to reinforce the capacity of a hospital in cases of emergency or crisis.
This initiative is part of the Burkinabe government’s commitment to improving the living and health conditions of combat forces, while enhancing their operational efficiency. It reflects President Traoré’s commitment to supporting troops on the front lines and ensuring their well-being, even in the most critical situations.
