Guinea: High-Level Meeting between a delegation from the World Bank and the President of the Republic, Colonel Mamadi Doumbouya

A meeting was held that brought together a delegation led by Ousmane Diagana, Vice President of the World Bank for West and Central Africa, members of the government, and sectoral department executives.

The discussions mainly focused on promising development topics, fostering hope for a prosperous future.

The heads of the ministerial departments present took this opportunity to provide clarification on projects already supported by the World Bank and highlight additional needs required for their realization.

Subsequently, in a solemn atmosphere, the delegation, accompanied by the Minister of Economy and Finance, was received at the Mohammed V Palace by the President of the Republic, Colonel Mamadi Doumbouya, the Head of State.

Ousmane Diagana took this opportunity to explain the objectives of his visit to Guinea.

He also introduced the new officials from the World Bank responsible for affairs in Guinea, including the Director of Operations of the World Bank in Guinea and other African countries, the Regional Manager for infrastructure in West Africa, and the new Resident Representative of the World Bank in Guinea.

In his capacity as Vice President of the World Bank for West and Central Africa, Ousmane Diagana reaffirmed with conviction the institution’s unwavering commitment to strengthen its partnership relations with Guinea, thus demonstrating its unshakable confidence in the country and its potential.

Attending the meeting were the Minister Secretary-General of the Presidency of the Republic, General Amara Camara, the Minister Director of Cabinet of the Presidency, Djiba Diakité, as well as the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Morissanda Kouyate.

President Colonel Mamadi Doumbouya reiterated his unwavering determination, shared by the members of the government, to continue the efforts undertaken to effectively and efficiently respond to the pressing needs of the Guinean population.

Ousmane Diagana, Vice President of the World Bank for West and Central Africa, arrived on Sunday, July 16, 2023, for a 48-hour working visit to the Republic of Guinea.
