The Togolese government recently issued Circular Note N°020 2023/MEPSTA/MCICL/MDHCIR for printers and publishers, aimed at strengthening citizens’ connection with the symbols and emblems of the Togolese Republic.

In the note, all publishers and printers are requested to print on the covers of the notebooks and note holders the Togolese flag, the national anthem and the motto of Togo, in accordance with the specific instructions. According to these indications, they are asked to put on the second cover, the three verses of the national anthem and the motto of Togo and on the third cover, the “Republican March” and, in watermark, the Togolese flag.

This initiative is part of the perspective of consolidating the social fabric, affirming the rule of law and promoting peace and coexistence, which are essential elements for inclusive development and shared growth. In this way, the government is focusing on education in the values of citizenship and citizenship, especially among the younger generations. In order to encourage greater ownership of these values and national symbols, publishers and printers are now required to play an active part in this task.

Copies of the verses of the national anthem and the “Republican March” were made available to printers at the Ministry of Human Rights, Citizenship Training and Relations with the Institutions of the Republic. This approach is intended to facilitate the implementation of this new requirement.
