Burkina Faso: President Ibrahim Traoré on the road to achieving his goals for the Burkinabe nation

Burkina Faso officially launched its electronic visa issuance platform, eVisa Burkina, this Thursday, August 17, 2023, in Ouagadougou. This innovation is a direct response to the vision of the President of the Burkinabe Revolution, Captain Ibrahim Traoré, to modernize public administration by dematerializing administrative procedures.

The field of travel and residence documents in Burkina Faso has taken a significant step forward. This project, supported by the Burkina Faso Visa Security Initiative (PSV-BF), aims to strengthen internal security by controlling migratory flows, and to optimize the collection and management of government revenues.

According to Mahamadou Sana, Minister Delegate in charge of Security, “this initiative will bring visa-issuing services closer to users, and promote tourism in Burkina Faso thanks to the tax advantages it offers”. From now on, any foreigner requiring a visa to travel to Burkina Faso can submit his or her application online, make payment by credit card, or be assisted by Burkina Faso’s diplomatic representatives, as Mahamadou Sana explained.

This initiative is perfectly aligned with President Ibrahim Traoré’s vision, which promotes the modernization of public administration by dematerializing administrative procedures, as stated by Aminata Zerbo Sabané, Minister of Digital Transition, Posts and Electronic Communications. She added: “This platform is part of the government’s strategy, which puts digital technology at the heart of the restructuring of our administration. In addition to managing flows, we’ll have reliable data and statistics in this crucial area.”

Visa fees vary according to the length of stay and the type of visa requested. A transit visa, valid for 5 days, costs 22,000 F CFA. Conference, study or visit visas cost 55,000 F CFA. Business visas cost 77,000 F CFA, while long-stay visas cost 187,000 F CFA for one year and 275,000 F CFA for two years. The eVisa Burkina platform can be accessed via the website www.visaburkina.bf.
