Liverpool: Jurgen Klopp says no to Mo Salah’s departure

Jurgen Klopp has closed the door on a move for Mohamed Salah.Liverpool have not received any offer for Mohamed Salah and, if they had, «the answer would be ‘no», assured coach Jurgen Klopp on Friday, when asked about alleged interest in the Egyptian striker from Saudi club Al-Ittihad.

Asked about alleged interest in the Egyptian striker from Saudi club al-ittihad, the Liverpool coach said he had received no offer. For the German, Salah is 100% committed to the Reds: «It’s difficult to comment on media stories, from our point of view there’s nothing to say. Mohamed Salah is a Liverpool player, he is, has been and will be essential for us. If there was anything, the answer would be no,» he said.

The transfer market closes on September 20 for the Saudi Pro League, three weeks after it closes in England (September 1), which is of particular concern to Klopp. European clubs can now lose players without being able to replace them before the winter mercato.

Last summer, the 31-year-old Egyptian extended his contract until June 2025. However, the al-Ittihad club are reportedly preparing a staggering offer for the former AS Roma striker, having already lured the likes of Karim Benzema, N’Golo Kanté and Fabinho.
